| About Location |
Mae Haad is a picturesque village on the North West coast of Koh Phangan. It has been slow to develop, but over the last few years it has been through a lot of changes, it now has greatly improved road connections, 24 hour electricity and a small village building up behind the beachfront.
The sleepy village at Mae Haad has always attracted many visitors; it is mostly famous for Koh Ma Island which is a natural wonder special to Koh Phangan. Mae Haad beach is connected to Koh Ma by a single long stretch of golden white sand that you can walk across. The beach has sunset views over Koh Ma and the waters and coral reef that surround it are designated as a Marine Park as they are so rich in sea life, with the possibility of spotting turtles and small reef sharks. There are now quite a few resorts, but as the beach is fairly long, there's still enough room for solitude.
Nearby Wang Sai waterfall also brings many tourists. It flows best after heavy rains and has a number of pools to cool off in. It isn't the biggest waterfall on Koh Phangan, but it's a beautiful stretch of fresh water in a lovely spot. The waterfall also guarantees a fresh water supply for the local villagers.
